Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
BEHOLD THE UPRIGHT
Two days ago, Tuesday, June 3rd, marked the 110th anniversary of the passing of my great-great-grandfather, on my dad’s mother’s side of the family. 😳
I know this info because my father loved genealogy and our family ancestry and he made sure that I loved genealogy and our family ancestry, too! 😀
William Warren (W. W.) Coody owned and operated a mercantile in Phoenix, Mississippi, beginning in 1881. He was a Deacon in the Baptist Church and was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 1895 and was reelected in both 1899 and 1903.
He died in 1915 at the age of 61 and was buried in the cemetery behind Wesley Chapel Church in Phoenix, Mississippi.
The text from Psalm 37:37 was inscribed on his headstone…
“Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” Psalm 37:37 KJV
Of course, W.W. Coody was not a “perfect man.” In the King James Version of The Holy Bible, the word “perfect” does not necessarily describe a sinless person but rather someone who desires to live a life pleasing to God and is generally upright in actions and character.
The Amplified Bible helps shed some light on the intent of this verse…
“Mark the blameless man [who is spiritually complete], and behold the upright [who walks in moral integrity]; There is a [good] future for the man of peace [because a life of honor blesses one’s descendants].” Psalm 37:37 AMP
What a legacy of blessing W.W. Coody left for his descendants. Let the same be said for each of us one day.
As one24worshipers, may we depend upon the grace of God to live such a “life of honor” today and each 24-hour day!
Have great week!
Enjoy!
David
ONE VERSE
“Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” Psalm 37:37 KJV
TWO QUOTES
Avery T. Willis, Jr. and Henry T. Blackaby
“God has purposed to see His name proclaimed among the nations. He is providing you the opportunity to join Him in seeing His glory fill heaven and earth.” Avery T. Willis and Henry T. Blackaby

O. Hallesby
“Nothing means so much to our daily prayer life as to pray in the name of Jesus. If we fail to do this, our prayer life will either die from discouragement and despair or become simply a duty which we feel we must perform.” O. Hallesby

FOUR OBSERVATIONS
1. Why Focus on Worship? - by Jacob Crouch at JacobRCrouch.Wordpress.com
“To be created, is to be created for worship. If you want to know God’s purpose for your life, here it is. God’s primary focus for your life is that you would be a worshipper.” Jacob Crouch
Article Excerpt: “He created us for His worship, but it is all too true that we often fall short of fulfilling that purpose. This is one reason Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, ‘the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him’ (John 4:23). God created us for worship, and He is actively looking for those who will worship Him with real worship. What is God looking for in His people? One of those things is a focus on worship.” 👉 Read More…
2. You Have Only to Be Silent - by Reid Petrie at GCDiscipleship.com
“In our battle against sin, our work is nowhere near enough. We are stuck, but God makes a way through the impossible!” Reid Petrie
Article Excerpt: “Sometimes the sensory barrage is crushing. I can feel overwhelmed when there’s too much noise and too many things going on. My mind starts to shut down, and I can’t focus on anything. If someone’s sitting by me, I can’t understand what they’re saying. In these moments, when it all becomes too much, I need to be reminded that God is a whisper. He is peace. He is serenity. And he fights for us while our only job is to be silent.” 👉 Read More…
3. A "Mighty Endeavor:" D-Day - from The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum
Tomorrow, June 6, 2025, marks the 81st anniversary of the Allies' invasion of Normandy, France, otherwise known as D-Day. On June 6, 1944, President Franklin Roosevelt replaced his usual evening "fireside chat" radio broadcast with a prayer. We would do well to pause tomorrow and give thanks to the Lord for those members of The Greatest Generation who helped save the world 80 decades ago. dg
“Last night, when I spoke to you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.” President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, June 6, 1944
Article Excerpt: “Many people have urged that I call the Nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.” 👉 Read More…
