Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
I grew up on the Texas gulf coast, just 30 minutes southeast of the NASA Johnson Space Center. Like many of my friends, I was interested in all things space related! And my parents encouraged that interest with books like this one, “Space Travel,” published in 1958, which I still have!
It was a great time and place to grow up, especially during the earliest days of the space race.
This week, like many of you, I was able to watch the NASA SpaceX capsule splash down safely in the gulf!
I could have not imaged as a kid that I would be able to watch a splashdown LIVE in the cab of my truck - on my cell phone - while sitting the H-E-B grocery store parking lot - just down the street from my house!
Technology! Wow!
The Prophet Isaiah referred to the grandeur of space and the expanse of the heavens when he wrote in Isaiah 40:26…
“Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing.” Isaiah 40:26 ESV
Most likely, not unlike me and my friends growing up, Isaiah could not have imaged these exciting days of space travel.
Regardless, he knew that the heavens and the earth were created by God and for God!
And that the Lord has and call every star by name!
And by His mighty power, not one of them is missing!
As one24worshipers, may we not take this for granted and may it encourage us to worship Him wholeheartedly today!
Enjoy!
David
