Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
This past Monday morning, Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, Texas, just 90 miles from my hometown of Texas City, Texas. The storm brought torrential rain, storm surge flooding, and hurricane-force winds all along that section of the Texas Gulf Coast.
Even now, Mark Roye, with Doug Stringer of Somebody Cares America, is mobilizing disaster relief efforts in Lake Jackson, Texas.
(If you are looking for a reputable organization to which you could donate, please consider Somebody Cares America. Thank you. dg)
“Storms” are a part of life and they come in many forms - a natural disaster, a medical diagnosis, a financial or relational crisis, etc.
In our one24worship One Verse/Passage this week, Jesus has a strong encouragement for us, especially helpful before the next “storm” comes ashore in our lives.
Also, one year ago, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, the inaugural edition of The one24worship Newsletter was published.
So, this Saturday, we’re celebrating ONE YEAR! 🎉 Yay God! 🎉
Thank you to every subscriber and everyone who has read, reached out, commented, liked, shared, emailed, etc. over these past 12 months. I so enjoy being on this one24worship journey with each of you!
I look forward to this upcoming O24W year with more new and original content planned in addition to this curated newsletter.
Enjoy!
David

One Verse/Passage
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25 ESV
Two Quotes
Henry & Richard Blackaby and Claude King
“Worship ought to be a grateful response to what God has already done in our lives as well as an opportunity for God to accomplish a fresh work in us.” Henry & Richard Blackaby and Claude King

Four Observations
God Is Jealous for His Glory, Not Ours - Article by Michael Brown at Stream .org
Excerpt: “Right now, in America, the name of Jesus is being tarnished by one devastating church scandal after another. Yet rather than covering over our sins to protect His reputation, He is allowing our unrepentant sins to be exposed and judged. And while it may seem for the moment that His name is taking a hit, He is actually at work in all this to bring glory to Himself — by cleaning house.” 👉 Read More…
3 Ways the Gospel Shapes our Definition of “Success” - Blog Post by Michael Kelley at MichaelKelley .co
Excerpt: “When we believe the gospel, we come to understand that God is going to shape us into the image of Jesus. And to do that, He’s going to use any and everything at His disposal. One of the most effective tools He uses for this shaping is our failure. For it’s when we fail that we are pushed to remember again and again who we really are – that no matter whether or not we achieve some other measure of success, we are once and always children of God.” 👉 Read More…
The Ten Boom House: Trusting God’s Will - Blog Post by James Emery White at ChurchAndCulture .org
Excerpt: “Corrie spent the rest of her life speaking of Christ’s love and forgiveness, mercy and sustenance, goodness and trustworthiness, wherever she went. Eventually her story was captured in the bestselling book The Hiding Place, one of the most life-changing biographies you will ever read. Corrie became an ambassador to the world.” 👉 Read More…
