Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
I love being outdoors, especially this time of year. And springtime I love being in the mountains, like the Rockies or the Great Smoky mountains.
During March, people can still enjoy some good spring snow skiing in Colorado and also experience some amazing hiking in Tennessee.
Here in Texas, we’ve got the Davis Mountains of West Texas (known as the Texas Alps), the Chisos of the Big Bend, and the Guadalupe Mountains, which boasts the highest summit in the state, Guadalupe Peak.
Isn’t there’s just something about being outside (especially now with Daylight Saving Time) after being sequestered indoors during the colder, winter months?
(Not that I don’t enjoy a good fire in the fireplace!)
When I have the opportunity to get out into God’s creation, the Lord seems to still my heart. And when I can get up into the mountains, He has a way of adjusting my perspective… He is big and I am small… He is BIG and we are small. 🏔️
That adjustment can be a really healthy realignment.
As Solomon wrote,
“Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:2 ESV
Of course, I’m writing this while seated indoors at my desk in my home office here in south Texas. So, I suppose I should “let my words be few” and start planning my next trip to some mountains!
In the meantime, here’s this week’s edition of The one24worship Newsletter.
Enjoy!
David
One Verse
“for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God,” Exodus 34:14 ESV
Two Quotes
J. I. Packer
“God seeks what we should seek – His glory, in and through men – and it is for the securing of this end, ultimately, that He is jealous.” J. I. Packer

Dr. David Jeremiah
“God will never leave anybody short who really wants to know Him. You will not be disappointed. God will meet you at the point of your search.” Dr. David Jeremiah

Four Observations
The Glad Heart of Jesus - by Randy Alcorn at EPM.org
Excerpt: “Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, preached a prototype gospel message, asserting three times the happiness of the one who is at the center of the gospel—Jesus. Yet how many people, unbelievers and believers alike, have ever heard a modern gospel message that makes this point? Peter preached that Jesus was “full of gladness”; why shouldn’t we?” 👉 Read More…
Jesus is Patient With our Doubt - by Kristen Black at GCDiscipleship.com
Excerpt: “Doubt is a very real and not always talked about part of the Christian life. To believe in Jesus means learning to navigate the doubts that come with it. The Bible says that there is an enemy, Satan, whose goal is to “steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10). He aims to bring doubt to our minds, assault our assurances, bring questions to our hearts, and try to pull us from the hands of Jesus (were that even possible). He loves to antagonize us.” 👉 Read More…
Arrogance & Eloquence - by Tim Challies at Challies.com
Excerpt: “God cares little for our eloquence but cares a great deal for our humility and sincerity. When you pray, whether privately or with others, it is far better to pray with the innocence and simplicity of a child than to pray with the arrogance and eloquence of a Pharisee.” 👉 Read More…
