Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse/passage, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
GOD SUPPLIES AHEAD OF TIME… BEFORE THERE’S A NEED!
The following article is courtesy of Doug Stringer and SomebodyCares.org on Monday, July 13, 2025.
This past Wednesday evening, during the regular mid-week service at The Country Church in Marion, Texas, one of our relief team members, David Guion, shared needs for Hill Country flood response from an email update sent out the day before on behalf of Somebody Cares.
One of the needs mentioned was for “generators (3500+ watts and above) for families waiting for electricity to be restored.” Gary Cathey was sitting in the congregation that night. When he heard that specific request, he immediately remembered he had that very type of generator in his garage—with only a few hours of use on it.
On Friday, Gary brought the generator to the church. With Jay Rotge’s help, he loaded it into David’s truck so David could deliver it to Kerr County this weekend. That generator is now powering several dehumidifiers in a home in Ingram, Texas—helping to reduce humidity and to stop mold growth.
"Sometimes, people who want to help in a disaster feel overwhelmed, thinking, 'The needs are so great—what can one person do?'" David said. "But the Lord doesn’t waste anything!"
He continued: "What are the odds that a man from my church would already have exactly what was needed—even before Somebody Cares sent out their email update? As my missionary friend, the late Walker Moore, taught me to say: 'When Jesus enters the picture, the odds don’t matter. They’re always 100 percent!’”

The ongoing recovery efforts in the Texas Hill Country are grueling, especially along the banks of and in the Guadalupe River. It is truly unimaginable.
Photographs on social media and videos on the news cannot properly convey the scale of the mountains of debris and the scope of the task.
If you are looking for a reputable organization to support during this disaster, I’d ask for you to prayerfully consider donating financially to SOMEBODY CARES.
As I wrote last week, there are many ongoing and legitimate needs from disasters all around the world. Let’s continue to pray fervently, give generously, and participate actively, as the Lord leads.
David
ONE VERSE
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 ESV
TWO QUOTES
Today’s Two Quotes both come from a Bible Study book that I purchased back in the mid-1980’s during my very first full-time church staff position in Austin, Texas. The book was written by Pastor John MacArthur entitled simply, True Worship.
Sadly, Pastor John passed away on Monday this week. He was 86 years old.
The Grace to You website reads…
“On July 14, Pastor John MacArthur’s faith became sight, as he entered into the eternal presence of his Savior. He had been dealing with some significant health challenges dating back to early 2023, and God, in His perfect wisdom, determined that John had completed his earthly ministry. John is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Matt, Marcy, Mark, and Melinda, and their spouses, along with fifteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was eighty-six years old.”1
The following Two Quotes from John MacArthur’s True Worship book exemplify, I believe, a one24worshiper’s heart of worship. Pastor John will be dearly missed. dg
John MacArthur, Jr.
“The goal of salvation is worship. The reason that God redeems people is so that they may be worshipers. […] Everything is ultimately geared to produce worship.” John MacArthur, Jr.

John MacArthur, Jr.
“…the primary purpose for our existence is to worship God. It involves what we are (true worshipers) and what we are to do (truly worship). Worship is the very core of our existence as those who have been redeemed.” John MacArthur, Jr.

FOUR OBSERVATIONS
1. Why doesn’t God prevent the bad things that happen to us? - by Alex McFarland at AlexMcFarland.com
“Texas has certainly been impacted the most, but we join with all of America in praying for those who lost loved ones in floods across several states. May all of the bereaved tangibly feel God’s presence at this time.” Alex McFarland
Article Excerpt: “As authorities in Texas are struggling to locate the bodies drowned by the Guadalupe flood, people everywhere are struggling to understand why such a thing would happen. ‘Why?’ we wonder. ‘Why — in the midst of summertime fun — would children and teens be subjected to violent death by flash flood?’
Why would such carnage fall on innocent young lives, and at a beloved Christian camp, no less? The floods of central Texas left at least 110 known dead and 160 people unaccounted for. ‘Couldn’t God have intervened to stop this?’ many wonder.” 👉 Read More…
2. The Gift of Sacrifice - by Michelle Lazurek at KHCB.org
“Sacrifice goes against human nature. We were born into sin, and our tendency to sin feeds our selfishness. It also goes against our nature to be selfless and give to others.” Michelle Lazurek
Article Excerpt: “Not everyone has money to give, but everyone has some time to give. We all have the same amount of time each day. It’s how we divide it and how we spend it that counts. Consider what you do with your free time. Do you spend your time in front of a television or computer? Do you give yourself the time you need to give to others?” 👉 Read More…
3. How to Rely on God’s Promises When You Can’t See the Way - by John Maisel at EastWest.org
“Because we cannot see and do not know what is really around us every moment, we must step out into God’s truth by faith—trusting that what He says is true.” John Maisel
Article Excerpt: “We know that every person will live forever. We know that there are two very different eternal destinations and judgments for those who believe and those who don’t. And because believers know what the last chapter looks like, we can navigate a world with the two realities described in Scripture: what is seen and what is unseen.” 👉 Read More…
