Welcome to this issue of one24worship. There are only 24 hours in every day and it truly matters how we invest these precious days each week, one 24-hour day at a time.
Hence the name, one24worship.
one24worship - a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, not just a weekly event.
One Verse
“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.” Luke 11:33 ESV
Two Quotes
J. Dalton Havard
“There is something physically, emotionally, and spiritually therapeutic about public worship. The leadership of the church has a profound responsibility to teach people how, and lead the people in true, Spirit-filled corporate worship.”

Dr. Havard was my pastor at First Baptist in Texas City during my high school years. I think of him with great fondness. Doubtless, the scope of his influence upon my life is incalculable. (J. Dalton Havard • November 18, 1922 – August 3, 2016)
Christy Nockels
“Beloved, God will go to great lengths to reveal places in our hearts that He’s not done fighting for. This is because He knows full well that the hallowed space of our longing is a space that only He can fill.”

Four Observations
Holding Pattern (God Is In The Waiting) - Article by “Musicianaries” Mark & Carrie Tedder
Excerpt: “I recall many arrivals at London’s Heathrow Airport when the captain comes on the PA system and says, ‘Well ladies and gentlemen, there’s a lot of air traffic this morning coming into London, so we’ll be in a holding pattern for a little while longer.’ We then engage a figure of 8 patterns in the skies from 16,000 ft and slowly descending to 8,000 ft with the London Eye and Parliament in sight. Eventually, a corridor opens for us, and Air Traffic Control clears our flight to land. In the waiting, the communication between the Captain and the Control Tower is critical, avoiding other planes, and dodging weather patterns during hold. It’s really all about timing.”
What Does Psalm 23:1 Mean? - Article by David Gibson
Excerpt: “It is this first clause in Psalm 23:1 that gives all the meaning to the second clause: ‘I shall not want.’ Although made up of only four words in Hebrew, Psalm 23:1 contains an implicit logical flow: ‘The Lord is my shepherd; therefore I shall not want.’ Because the Lord is my shepherd, I lack for nothing. If I have him, I have everything. He is mine; so I have all I need.”
The Purpose of Parables: What it Means to Teach Like Jesus - Article from David Prairie
Excerpt: “A parable is a simple story with a deeper meaning. It is generally more powerful than a fairy tale or a nursery rhyme because it conveys reality through its fiction. And no one in history utilized parables as poignantly—nor, perhaps, more frequently—than Jesus. In that regard, he truly was a master storyteller.
Yet I would suggest that it is more noteworthy to say that Jesus was a master preacher. His stories, the parables, were just one of the strategies that Jesus used in his preaching. Some of the parables functioned as sermons on their own, and some were illustrations placed within larger messages.”
New SONG “Fear of God” by Brooke Ligertwood, from the forthcoming album EIGHT (coming October 20) - Brooke Ligertwood - Fear Of God (Official Video)
VERSE TWO
“Satan roams like a roaring lion, seeking to devour us but / The fear of god will keep us / Hold to what lasts and keep your lamp lit / Stand in the knowledge of this / The fear of God will keep us, the fear of God will keep us.”

Current one24worship Poll
Many people take notes during the message at church. Some use a physical handout provided by the church. Others take out their phone and jot some notes down. Of course, there are plenty of mobile apps, too. Still others are “old school” (like me) and bring a journal to write in or a note pad to write on.
So, if you take sermon notes during church, what’s your #1 challenge? Or, to put it another way, if you could solve the #1 problem you have related to taking sermon notes during church, what would that solution look like?
If you’d like to participate in the Current one24worship Poll, please email your response to Current one24worship Poll.
Thank you!
