Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse/passage, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
This past Tuesday morning, I was blessed to attend a Men’s Prayer Breakfast held at a coffee shoppe in Seguin, TX. I had been invited by a friend who asked me if I would also share my testimony at the gathering.
After I told my story, the men took prayer requests from the group and then we all prayed around the tables. The walls of the coffee shoppe echoed with the resonating sounds of men’s voices praying aloud.
One of the men attending, Mike Diaz, creates beautiful handcrafted crosses.
Evidently, each time the men gather for this prayer meeting, Mike brings one of his crosses to give away during a drawing held at the conclusion. Even though I did not win the drawing, the person that did win ended up giving me the beautiful handcrafted cross as a gift.
This kind gesture reminded me that Jesus’ gift of salvation (by way of the cross) comes to us by grace through faith for free.
Five centuries ago, God reignited this simple yet powerful truth to a man named Martin Luther and the message of the gospel has flourished ever since.
So, thank you Jesus for Your amazing grace and Happy Reformation Day!
Enjoy!
David
One Verse/Passage
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.’” Romans 1:16-17 ESV
Two Quotes
Martin Luther
“Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also; the body they may kill: God's truth abideth still; His kingdom is forever!” Martin Luther (1529)

Charles R. Swindoll

Four Observations
Why We Worship: Psalm 8 and the Foundation for Praise - by Alistair Begg at TruthForLife.org
Excerpt: “We live in a largely self-absorbed world, and with that self-absorption inevitably comes a low view of God. While it’s not incapable of occasional flashes of altruism, ultimately, fallen humanity is imprisoned inside its own ego. Rather than living to the praise of God’s glory, we live to the praise of our own.” 👉 Read More…
Why Sing? - by Darryl Dash at DashHouse.com
Excerpt: “N.T. Wright says that hymns and songs ‘are not just entertainment; they are instruction, consolation, warning and hope.’ They're powerful. Verse 14 of Ephesians 5 is probably part of a song that Paul used to teach the Ephesians. You see this all over the place. Songs and music teach us about God.” 👉 Read More…
From Practice to Perfection - by Tim Challies at Challies.com
Excerpt: “…God’s people are like an orchestra that is rehearsing. We have been called to take our part and we are learning how to do so. We may not each play an instrument, but we each bring an assortment of gifts, talents, and ways we love to serve the Lord. We come from varied backgrounds and have lived through different experiences of life. We represent different generations, social classes, countries of origin, and races. Yet God has made the many one—one people, one nation, one body.” 👉 Read More…
SONG “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” Recorded and Additional Chorus by Matt Boswell - YouTube Video: A Mighty Fortress Is Our God - Matt Boswell
VERSE ONE
“A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing
Our Helper He amidst the flood, of mortal ills prevailing
For still our ancient foe, doth seek to work us woe
His craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate
On earth is not his equal!”
