Welcome to this issue of one24worship - a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
There are only 24 hours in every day and it truly matters how we live out these precious days each week, one 24-hour day at a time.
Every. Day. Matters.
Hence the name, one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, not just a weekly event.
🙏 Praying for those affected by the tragic events in Lewiston, ME.
One Verse
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 ESV
Two Quotes
Anne Frank
“A voice within me is sobbing, ‘You see, that’s what’s become of you. You’re surrounded by negative opinions, dismayed looks and mocking faces, people who dislike you, and all because you don’t listen to the advice of your own better half.’ Believe me, I’d like to listen, but it doesn’t work, because if I’m quiet and serious, everyone thinks I’m putting on a new act…
[…] …and keep trying to find a way to become what I’d like to be and what I could be if . . . if only there were no other people in the world.”

The quotes above are extracted from the very last paragraph written in Anne Frank’s diary, including the very last sentence she wrote. The entry is dated Tuesday, August 1, 1944. Three days after she wrote this, Anne and all of the people hiding in the Annex were arrested and taken to a prison in Amsterdam. It is thought that Anne and her sister, Margot, both died a few short months later while at Bergen-Belsen, a concentration camp near Hannover, Germany, sometime in late February or early March of 1945. The camp was liberated by British troops the following month on April 12, 1945.
Corrie ten Boom
“Perhaps only when human effort had done its best and failed, would God’s power alone be free to work.”

Four Observations
Texas ranks third in elder scamming: Elderly Texas couple loses life savings to scammers - Article by Mariza Mendoza on news4sanantonio.com
By Presidential declaration, the month of October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This related news story features Dennis and Joy Shockey, whom I have known personally for 35 years. They are a precious Christian couple. I am so grateful for their brave willingness to share their story with the hope that others may be spared a similar experience.
Excerpt: “According to the FBI’s 2022 Elder Fraud Report, Texas ranks number 3 in the nation on victims over the age of 60 being scammed. We spoke to an elderly couple who made a bad decision and lost their life savings. ‘Made us feel like they were doing the right thing and they were going to take care of us,’ said scam victim Dennis Shockey. Dennis and his wife Joy Shockey were scammed out of nearly $180,000 and it all started with a pop up on his computer.”
If you would like, a GoFundMe page has been established on behalf of the Shockey’s.

Want to Make a Difference? It Starts with One Person - Article from Crossway.org
Recently, Brother Butch Ikels and I had the privilege of meeting with Jacob and Carol Lee while they were here in Texas. We are honored to partner with the Lee’s and to pray for them.
Excerpt: “Jacob and Carol’s passion is to equip pastors with what they need to minister effectively in their churches throughout Uganda, South Sudan, and the Republic of Sudan where pastors lack effective training. ‘In our area, somewhere around 85%—I dare say even up to 95%—of pastors have had little to no biblical training. This means no Bible school, seminary, and so forth. When we began this ministry, we really felt like that’s where we could come alongside these brothers in Christ and support them in their ministry.’”

FOR WORSHIP LEADERS: Eight Ways to Maintain Your Integrity as a Worship Leader - Article from 2018 by Ronnie Martin on Doxology & Theology
Excerpt: “There's a reason why there's a ring of truth to the often-heard cliche: ‘What does he/she do all week? Don't they just pick four songs?’ You may only have to pick four songs every week to keep your boss satisfied and your congregation singing, but there's so much more you actually can, should, and need to do to maintain your integrity as someone who has been called to sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to the people God has called to worship Him in grace and truth.”
New SONG - “Not to Us (One Name Forever Shall Be Praised)” - Matt Boswell & Matt Papa Ft. Matt Redman
Just For Fun: If you’re a fan of irony, you’ll enjoy some of the comments that are being generated on their YouTube page about this video, like this one…
“The Gettys are just going to keep adding Matts to the lineup until the whole earth is filled with guys named Matt. We're on to your plan!!!”
CHORUS
“One song will ring through the ages / One throne will ever remain / This world will pass and its glories fade / One name forever shall be praised.”

Current one24worship Poll
Many people take notes during the message at church. Some use a physical handout provided by the church. Others take out their phone and jot some notes down. Of course, there are plenty of mobile apps, too. Still others are “old school” (like me) and bring a journal to write in or a note pad to write on.
So, if you take sermon notes during church, what’s your #1 challenge? Or, to put it another way, if you could solve the #1 problem you have related to taking sermon notes during church, what would that solution look like?
If you’d like to participate in the Current one24worship Poll, please email your response to Current one24worship Poll.
Thank you!
