Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse/passage, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
November is here and that means cool mornings, a hot cup of coffee, and a fire in the fireplace. It’s a season of intentional gratitude.
In 1863, two years into the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln issued a Thanksgiving Day proclamation…
“…to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.”
Thanksgiving in America has been celebrated on the last Thursday of November ever since.
As one24worshipers, over these next few weeks, let’s tune our hearts toward gratitude as we approach this American tradition of giving thanks to “our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.”
Enjoy!
David
One Verse/Passage
“All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Lord, for they have heard the words of your mouth, and they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.” Psalm 138:4-5 ESV
Two Quotes
Donald S. Whitney
“The real duty of worship is not the outward duty to say or do the liturgy. It is the inward duty, the command – ‘Delight yourself in the Lord!’” Donald S. Whitney

Four Observations
The Art of Noticing - by Kelly Needham at JimmyAndKelly.com
Excerpt: “A sunset is nothing new to most of us. Neither is a starry sky. But both, when properly observed and studied, become an occasion for worshipping Our Creator! Don't miss out on the profound joys of life and worship around you today.” 👉 Read More…
We Need to Sing More Than Songs of Praise - by Simon van Bruchem at WrittenForOurInstruction.com
Excerpt: “Singing means expressing emotion. It is important that Christians don’t only express praise and joy. We need to pour out all that we feel and think before our God, even on the days when we feel low and are struggling. Singing can be a great encouragement to those who need to be reminded of the gospel.” 👉 Read More…
5 Ways to Reduce Stress During Anxious Days - by Ann Voskamp at AnnVoskamp.com
Excerpt: “Gratitude is the game changer that wins you more joy, less worry, and far more expansive trust because, just as you train your eyes to see the gifts of grace today, you’re training your heart to trust that there will be more than enough grace for the future. The practice of giving thanks is actually giving you the gift of greater joy and peace and trust.” 👉 Read More…
SONG “Run to Jesus” Written by Nathan Stiff and David Zimmer - YouTube Video: Run to Jesus (Official Lyric Video)
“When life goes sideways with grief, disappointment, or condemnation, we can start to feel distant from God. We fear he doesn't understand what we're going through, or worse, doesn't care. But Jesus invites us to draw near him in our worst moments. As J.I. Packer encourages us, ‘[T]he stress of the New Testament is not on the difficulty and danger of drawing near to the holy God, but on the boldness and confidence with which believers may approach him: a boldness that springs directly from faith in Christ, and from the knowledge of his saving work. “In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence”' (Eph 3:12). In that vein, this song encourages us to come to the throne of grace with joy, knowing God will not only hear us but will keep us to the very end.”
VERSE THREE
“Though the journey is long / Though the night tarries on / Your Redeemer is strong / In your weakness / He will carry you through / He is faithful and true / He will make all things new / Run to Jesus!”
