Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse/passage, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
NOT NEGLECTING TO MEET TOGETHER
Yesterday, I had a late breakfast (do guys do brunch?) with two good friends whom I’ve known for over 40 years. And even though all three of us rarely get together, we’re always encouraged by the time.
During our conversation, we caught up on all the latest news about our families and our ministries.
OK, so, we did reminisce some about the past, but honestly, most of what we discussed was forward looking to what lies ahead!
The late Jim Rohn used to say,
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Jim Rohn
And, more importantly, the writer of the Book of Hebrews wrote,
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
I’m not sure how accurate the study may have been that produced the data connected with Jim Rohn’s statement. (I mean, perhaps we’re actually the average of the three people or the seven people we spend the most time with. 😳 )
Regardless, we’re aware that’s not actually the point of Rohn’s sentence!
The point is… it’s a needful thing for us all to be meeting together regularly with those who will “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.”
Those who will encourage us, challenge us, build us up… and even hold us accountable without tearing us down in the process!
Perhaps this week, we should intentionally reach out to someone we may not have connected with in a while; someone that we could encourage, challenge, and build up… or perhaps even hold accountable without tearing them down in the process!
As one24worshipers, let’s consider how to stir up one another - in encouraging, challenging, edifying… and even accountable ways - to love and good works.
Have great week!
Enjoy!
David
ONE VERSE
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 ESV
TWO QUOTES
Doug Stringer
“I’m often amazed at how God works behind the scenes in ways that aren’t always apparent on the surface.” Doug Stringer

Dave Busby
“Repentance is actually a good word. It simply means saying ‘goodbye’ to false wells and independence, so you can say ‘hello’ to the true God. It’s changing your mind about who, or what, is going to be the source of your life.” Dave Busby

FOUR OBSERVATIONS
1. Psalm 101: True Worship - by Paul Tripp at PaulTripp.com
“…the most basic and essential function of a human being is worship. Everybody, even the most irreligious person, worships. As a human being, worship is first our identity before it’s ever our activity.” Paul Tripp
Article Excerpt: “It is quite possible to worship God on Sunday and between Sundays have a life that is shaped by the worship of something else. And for this, we need to cry out for the grace of Jesus.
May our worship not just be that formal, vertical worship, but may it rearrange, reform, restore everything in our lives so everything we do, everything we say, every decision, every action is a hymn of worship to our Lord.
And for that, we need the rescuing, transforming grace of Jesus!” 👉 Read More…
2. Seven Ancient Worship Disciplines from Richard Foster's Timeless Wisdom - by Dan Shields at OrchardHillChurch.com
“Worship is more than music—it’s the daily orientation of our hearts toward the One who is always present.” Dan Shields
Article Excerpt: “We get to experience God in a way that simply reading His word or books about Him can’t convey, as vital as that is. We get to ‘taste and see’ that He is good. We get to come to Him with our burdens and experience His rest. We get to embrace peace that transcends understanding. As Jonathan Edwards said in Religious Affections, ‘True religion is… the enjoyment of God…’” 👉 Read More…
3. Master Your Moments and Master Your Days - by Tim Challies at Challies.com
“Duty despises no opportunity to do good unto the least of these.” Tim Challies
Article Excerpt: “If we master our moments we will master our days and if we master our days we will master our lives—we will live lives worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It all hinges on the moment—the moment of duty, the moment of possibility, the moment God’s providence presents an opportunity to do good.” 👉 Read More…
4. SONG “Triune God” with Justin Tweito, The Worship Initiative ft. Josh Duncan
