Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
Today, May 1, 2025, has been designated as The National Day of Prayer.
From the National Day of Prayer website:
“Since the first call to prayer in 1775, when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming a nation, the call to prayer has continued through our history, including President Lincoln’s proclamation of a day of “humiliation, fasting, and prayer” in 1863. In 1952, a joint resolution by Congress, signed by President Truman, declared an annual national day of prayer. In 1988, the law was amended and signed by President Reagan, permanently setting the day as the first Thursday of every May.”
I invite you to join with me and millions of others – because there is power in agreed-upon prayer – to pray specifically for revival to come to our nation!

One Verse
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13 ESV
Two Quotes
Matthew Henry
“The joy and peace of believers arise chiefly from their hopes. What is laid out upon them is but little, compared with what is laid up for them; therefore – the more hope they have – the more joy and peace they have.” Matthew Henry

Four Observations
1. By the Power of the Holy Spirit - by Kathy Branzell, President, National Day of Prayer Task Force at NationalDayOfPrayer.org
Excerpt: “The Spirit’s work in us is experienced and expressed by the fruit of the Spirit throughout our lives as we submit every thought, decision, responsibility, opportunity, relationship, action; absolutely every aspect of our lives with nothing held back completely surrendered to the Lord’s will.
His power becomes our strength, wisdom, hope, courage; whatever is needed for us to accomplish all that God has authored for our lives, every purpose He has planned and good work He has prepared will be completed in His will and ways as we bow in prayer and allow the Spirit to work in us and through us. We don’t have to muster it up, fake it, or go searching for earthly temporary things to prop us up. Power beyond measure is always available to us from the Holy Spirit to the children of God.” 👉 Read More…
2. What Kind of Shadow Are You Leaving Behind? - by Chuck Lawless at ChuckLawless.com
Excerpt: “Acts 5:15 tells us that the people of Jerusalem ‘even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them.’ Apparently, those who came even near the presence of Peter experienced the power of God in his shadow.
This strange story makes me wonder why kind of ‘shadow’ I leave behind.” 👉 Read More…
3. 3 Verses from the Psalms That Teach Our Families About Singing - by Kristyn Getty at Crossway.org
Excerpt: “All of Scripture calls us to sing. There is a hymnbook in the middle of the Bible, a songbook that every family can use. It’s called the Psalms. Each psalm gives us words to sing, words to pray, words to share. The very first psalm is a wonderful place to start.” 👉 Read More…

Sing, Sing, Sing All my life music has been a beacon of hope for me. I believe I was born singing. I sang my children and grandchildren to sleep each night. Four years ago, I bought two Boxers and I sang "Jesus Loves Me" to them each night. Even now four years later, if they are scared of thunder I can sing "Jesus Loves Me to Them". They will get in their beds and go to sleep. Music reaches deep into the heart and soul of a person. I believe that is why God has so many songs in the Bible. God said King David was a man after His on heart. King David wrote music and played an instrument. I know God loved it.
God gives each of us gift.
