Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.
The one24worship Newsletter is a weekly offering of inspiration, ideas, and insights landing in your email inbox every Thursday... 1-2-4: one verse, two quotes, and four observations at a time.
Forty years ago, I was serving as a Youth Pastor at a church in Austin, Texas. While serving there in 1985, one of my friends had given my name to a Senior Pastor in Alabama because his church was looking for someone to head up their Student Ministry.
This Pastor called me on the phone and then, soon after, flew to Austin so we could meet. And I remember that lunch meeting very well.
During the mid-1980’s, the Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama was an amazing, vibrant, and growing church and Dr. Darrell W. Robinson was their Pastor and Vice-President of Evangelism at the Home Mission Board.
So, here I was, feeling very much like a still “wet behind the ears” Youth Guy sitting across the lunch table from Dr. Robinson being interviewed and invited to move from Texas to Alabama.
Long story short, I did not move. Still, over the years, Dr. Darrell W. Robinson would become better known to me simply as, Brother Darrell. He was a man who loved Jesus deeply and people dearly.
One year ago today, January 23, 2024, Brother Darrell passed away in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 88.
Brother Darrell’s life made a profound impact upon hundreds of thousands all around the United States and the world… and I was one of those. Well done, Brother Darrell.
The first quote in this edition of one24worship comes from one of Brother Darrell’s books.
Enjoy!
David
One Verse
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5 ESV
Two Quotes
Darrell W. Robinson
“Every problem is a divine opportunity for God to work. God permits a problem to arise that His own power and provision may be made manifest.” Darrell W. Robinson

Four Observations
How God’s Majesty Inspires Worship and Awe (Part 2) - by John Maisel at EastWest.org
Excerpt: “Throughout Scripture, God is helping us see that our purpose is to bring Him honor and glory. In this pursuit, we find freedom. Why? Because God is love.” 👉 Read More…
Dreams of Kings: Old Testament Wisdom for Modern Changes in Power - by Luke Pearce at Persecution.org
Excerpt: “In government, seasons of opportunity come and go. For Christian advocates to weather these seasonal shifts of power, we, like Daniel, must be consistent in grace in every season so that even our opponents can ‘find no ground for complaint or any fault.’ Let humility always control how we engage with those who may oppose us in politics; this is consistent with Christ’s command to love our enemies, and it is also wise to remember that, inevitably, the scales of power will shift back again as they always do. And in modern politics, memories last far beyond any one election cycle.” 👉 Read More…
Don’t Trade What Doesn’t Fade for What Does - by Michael Kelley at MichaelKelley.co
Excerpt: “Life, in a sense, is all about tradeoffs. You might make more money, but you have to work longer hours. You might have a larger house, but you have a smaller monthly budget. You might enjoy that package of bacon but you’ll raise your cholesterol. Life is about tradeoffs.” 👉 Read More…
