Welcome to this issue of one24worship - Because worship is a daily lifestyle, one 24-hour day at a time, not just a weekly event.

MEMORIAL DAY 2025
This coming Memorial Day (originally Decoration Day), we honor and remember those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Last Monday in May
We pause to remember those who died
With so much courage, so much pride
They’ll never come back, yet memories endure
To remind us of freedom: fragile, pure
We’re worthy of their sacrifice if we pause each day
Not just on the last Monday in May

EIGHTEEN DIFFERENT KINDS OF CRICKETS
In the first chapter of his 1988 book, Hearing God, the late pastor Peter Lord recounts a story about crickets.
During a wedding reception being held at their home, Pastor Peter had stepped outside for moment to escape the crowd and noise. Once outside, he encountered one of the ushers peering intently into some bushes beside the walkway.
When he asked the usher what was up, the man replied, “Mr. Lord, do you know that you have eighteen different kinds of crickets in those bushes?”
Not recalling having ever consciously heard a cricket in those bushes, Peter was intrigued.
Turns out that the “usher” was also a graduate student in entomology1 at the University of Florida who had learned to distinguish hundreds of different types of cricket calls with his natural ear. 😳
Peter used this story to demonstrate how we can “learn” to hear certain sounds and that “a hearing ear” could be developed!
In the New Testament book of Hebrews, Chapters 3 and 4, the writer quotes three different times from Psalm 95:7-8 in the span of just twenty verses…
“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts,”
That’s the emphasis of this week’s edition of The one24worship Newsletter.
This week, may we pause and learn how to better “incline our ears” to the words of the Lord!
Grant us a hearing ear!
Enjoy!
David

FOUR OBSERVATIONS
1. The Power of Prayer and Fasting - by Mark Cole at Worship Leaders University at MarkCole.ca
“Fasting isn’t about earning—it’s about aligning.” Mark Cole
Article Excerpt: “Fasting doesn’t change God. It tunes your heart to His.
It says, ‘Lord, I want to hear from You more than I want anything else.’
In our busy, noisy world, fasting is a sacred pause—an act of surrender. And it may be the very thing that changes your heart, your mindset, or even your future.” 👉 Read More…
2. Ready or Not, You Can Serve - by Kristen Hogrefe Parnell at KHCB.org
“Many of us genuinely want to serve God, but perhaps right now doesn’t seem convenient or we don’t feel qualified. Ready or not, we can and should serve.” Kristen Hogrefe Parnell
Article Excerpt: “Maybe we don’t have a spare apartment for guests, but could we make a meal for a new mom or shut-in? Could we mow an elderly couple’s lawn or trim their bushes? Let’s sit down with our spouses (or parents or friends) and brainstorm how we can serve right where we are, with what we have.” 👉 Read More…
3. Loving Like Jesus in Times of Crisis - by Conversations with Christians Engaged Episode Hosted by Ben Quine and featuring Doug Stringer at Stream.org
